If you are interested in applying for the Federal Skilled Worker Program, there are three steps that you will need to take.
Step 1. Apply for your Express Entry profile by filling out an online form and providing your personal information, employment history, education credentials and skills assessment results.
Step 2. Wait for your profile to be reviewed by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). This can take anywhere between two and six months.
Step 3. Once you have been accepted into the Express Entry pool, you will receive an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence from one of the provinces or territories that has a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). You may also receive an Invitation To Apply (ITA) directly from CIC if they are unable to find a suitable match in their Express Entry pool within six months of receiving your application.
Step 4. You will need to submit an application for Canadian permanent residence and pay the associated fees.
Step 5. If your application is successful, you will receive confirmation from CIC that they have accepted your application and processed it; at this point, you can begin preparing for your medical exam (if required) and interview with a visa officer.
Once approved, the process continues until all three stages have been completed: assessment, processing and approval.
